Allow Access Through Firewall
If you are encountering issues with playing online, the most likely cause is that you are playing through a VPN, which is known to cause issues with multiplayer in games. Alternatively, the game may not be allowed access through your Firewall. Please check the following article for how to allow an app access through your Firewall https://shorturl.at/hNV24.
- Most users will see a screen like this when the game launches the 1st time, but it can be missed easily because it may come up behind your game window or other windows.
Epic Account Permissions
If after allowing the game through your Firewall you still encounter issues with hosting or joining a multiplayer lobby, the next thing to check is your Epic permissions.
- Restart the game and wait for a popup that asks to accept permissions for Return to Moria to use your Epic Games account for networking. Check at this moment to see if the game created a popup like this. This also may appear "behind" your game or other windows.
- If you're uncertain if you allowed this or not, you can check by going to your Epic Account https://www.epicgames.com/account/connections?lang=en-US&productName=epicgames to see if you are authorized to play the game. Every time an Epic game is installed - you need to accept this one time agreement.
- Click on your profile and select "Account", it will launch a browser window to your Epic Games account.
- Log in if you are not logged in.
- Go to Apps and Accounts, and select the Apps tab, and click "Show More" until you can see Return to Moria.
- Make sure access is allowed here. When it is correct it should look like this:
- If you don't see "Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria" in that list, please make sure that you close the game, and close the Epic Launcher. Restart the Epic Launcher and restart the game.
If Network Trouble Persists
If you are still experiencing network issues, please submit a ticket along with your Logs and Saves Folders, along with your World Seed.
How to Locate Logs and Saves:
- You can find these folders at
- SAVE - "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Moria\SavedGames"
- LOGS - "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Moria\Saved\Logs"
- Once at each of these folders, right-click on it and click "Compress to ZIP File" or "Sent to > Compressed (zipped) folder". Then upload these zip/rar files as an attachment to your reply, we'll be able to look into this further internally to determine the cause and hopefully solve the problem. Please do not host this folder yourself as we will only use direct uploads only.
