Steam + Networking Issues (Firewall)

Modified on Wed, 28 Jan at 8:50 PM

Sometimes players have trouble launching an online world, or joining an online world. You may see errors such as "Lost Connection to Host" or errors in the interface that tell you that you're not allowed to start a world in Online mode.

For this we recommend you check your Firewall settings. The game must be allowed permission to navigate your firewall in WIndows, in order to establish a peer-to-peer connection securely with other players.

Typically players see aa popup when you first install the game on Steam, for most users it is a Windows popup such as this:

If you did not do this at first, you can review your firewall settings by going to your start button and type "Firewall & Network" to open the settings menu
Navigate to click "Allow an app through Firewall" and search in the list for "Moria"
With admin access, you can click this "Change Settings" button and check the boxes for Moria to get whitelisted by your firewall, so you can play in multiplayer online games.

For newer players, you will find the listing for the game further down the list, please scroll past if you do not see "Moria"

Good Luck and we hope this has helped!
